ACCOMMODATION IN THE BEDROOMS

Are the rooms very quiet?

Quietness is part of the concept of our guest house.

Vanilla house suits better the ‘independent’ travellers (not groups) seeking for a quiet place without live music, children, swimming pool etc.

Do the rooms have sea view?

There is no room with sea view. Pictures of the beach found on the website are those of the nearest beach, accessible either by foot (20 minutes along a sandy path), barely 10 minutes on bicycle.

What are the rooms’ accommodation capacity?

All rooms are for 2 persons in a double bed. No extra bed available. Baby-cots available upo request. (Babies = 0 to 2 years old.)

Do you offer inter-connecting rooms?

We have 3 pairs of connecting rooms for children at the same rate as adults.

Are the rooms comfortably equipped?

Our rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a veranda overlooking a patio.
They are equipped with microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster, with the option to order your meals each day. Our rooms are daily cleaned, laundry service / ironing is offered.

BOOKING AND CANCELLATION PROCEDURES AND POLICY

How can I check availability of your guest rooms and their rates?

You can check the availability of our guest rooms using a request form or our online reservation system. In the first case, you will need to wait for us to reply and advise; we endeavour replying within 10 hours maximum but our average response time is about 3 hours. Using our online reservation facility will inform you about availability and rates at the same time, according to the period searched for.

I checked availability online and received no results, what can I do?

When the online system returns no result it means that there are no rooms available. In that case it will display calendars and the possibility to send a booking request. You may as well send us your request via our request form. It is worth trying.

I want to book a room; how should I proceed?

As above, to book a guest room you can use a request form or our online reservation system.

Using the former, you will need to wait for us to reply and advise; we endeavour replying within 10 hours maximum but our average response time is about 3 hours. We will NOT automatically book the room for you but will ask you to confirm your booking after having read our response e-mail containing rates and conditions. Once you confirm your intention to book, specifying how you would like to pay the deposit, we will make a temporary booking for you, giving you some time to process the payment.

Using our online reservation system is faster and safer as it will inform you about availability and rates at the same time, according to the period searched for and allows you to book instantly. A valid credit card is required to guarantee your reservation but this card will not be automatically debited. On receipt of your booking we will send you an e-mail with a link to our bank’s online payment facility, with the deposit amount already set. This will allow you to safely enter your credit card details and validate the payment.

Your credit card will only be debited after we have double-checked availability of rooms for the period of your stay and after you have validated the payment via our bank’s secured server.

A booking becomes confirmed only after receipt of payment and remains subject to the payment of the balance amount. (See payment conditions below.)

Is a deposit required?

30 % Deposit is required at time of reservation and full payment prior to check-in. 2 Weeks in advance for stays over the peak season (typically 22nd of December to 5th of January,) upon arrival for any other period.

How can we pay?

Payment of deposits can be done by credit card via our bank’s secured internet interface or by wire transfer. Fore more details please refer to the booking procedures above.

What about if we need to cancel?

In case of cancellation the following penalties apply Cancellations received more than 7 days prior to arrival – 10 % of the total value of the booking will be retained as cancellation fees Cancellations received less than 7 days prior to arrival 30 % of the total value of the booking will be retained as cancellation fees No Shows – 100 % of the total value of the booking will be retained as cancellation fees.

BREAKFASTS

Do you (only) serve English breakfasts?

We offer the choice between an English breakfast and a continental one (at the restaurant). The English consists of eggs “the way you like them,” bacon, tomatoes, sausages and toasts. The continental: A delicious home-made granola mix with yoghurt and dried fruits in syrup, OR fresh fruit salad OR French breakfast including croissants, chocolate bread and home-made bread. At what time does the breakfast service start?

The restaurant opens at 8:30 every day except on Sundays and public holidays and for clients who need to leave earlier, we serve 2 yoghurt, 2 varieties of cereals, and milk in the room as from 7.30 am. Meals

Is there a room service?

No, except in the case above or on Sundays and public holidays where breakfast is served in your room: Two varieties of cereals, milk, 2 yoghurt, “pains au chocolat,” “croissants” and a fresh fruit juice. What meals are included in the rate? Only breakfast, Vanilla House is a B&B guest house

How does one for lunch and dinner?

Lunch can be taken at the restaurant next to Vanilla House: The Vanilla Bean, open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 16h and Saturday from 8:30 to 12pm. The evening meal can be ordered at the reception of Vanilla House or directly at Vanilla Bean before 15h (cut off). The meal will be delivered in the room and can be heated in the micro-wave oven found in the room.

Is there a dining area in the rooms?

Each room has a table for two and two chairs on the veranda adjacent to the room.

How much do meals cost?

Rates are those of the restaurant menu and are the same for dinner.

Do you serve vegetarian meals?

Yes we offer a few vegetarian dishes à la carte, including the quiche of the day, the salmon soufflé, the beetroot and butter-nut salad. Note that we also propose customised salads upon guests’ special requests.

GOOD TO KNOW

Can you arrange a transfer from the airport? If so at what price?

We offer airport-Vanilla House transfers by car, cost Rs. 1800 for 3 people. Minibus available upon request.

What time should we check-in / check-out?

The check-in are at noon and check-out 11:00 am. Requests for early check-ins and late check-outs are welcome.

What are the reception’s opening hours?

The reception is open from 8.00 am. till 8.00 pm.

Is there a bus-stop / taxi-stand nearby?

The bus stops at the entrance of Vanilla House. Taxis can be booked on call or preferably with prior arrangements with reception.

Where can we rent bikes?

We have six bikes at guests’ disposal on a complimentary basis.

Can you book rental cars for us to collect them at the airport?

Apart from the major brands, we propose a local car hire company, the most important one, but do not commit on best available rates.
